Resistant Materials at KS4
Course outline
Students will be set a range of focused activities prior to undertaking their two assessed coursework tasks, which will represent 40 hours of curriculum time in total. The subject content will be covered in class and reinforced through regular homework assignments
Course content
Resistant Materials Technology will be primarily concerned with the use of wood, metal and plastic for the manufacture of products and appropriate construction techniques and processes will be covered in detail. Students will be engaged in the study of systems and control for a variety of applications.
Assessment criteria can be successfully attained through the production of small artefacts. At Banovallum, however, we offer students the option of making larger items for some projects, though a charge will be made to cover the cost of materials prior to them starting the practical work.
