Textiles at KS4

The course available at KS4 is a BTEC Certificate or Diploma in Textiles.

It is a three year course where you work practically in the textiles room. You will work through four to six specialist units. These will include the following; creative dye-work, printing, creative stitch, fabric construction, garment making, product design and development and fashion drawing and development. The course will build up a wide base of skills working with textiles. At the end of the three years you will receive a pass (equivalent to two to four grades B at GCSE). THERE IS NO EXAM!!!!! Your work is assessed in school by your teacher and a moderator and they will look at your sketchbooks, research journals, worksheets, practical samples and design and make project work. After gaining a BTEC in textiles you could go on and study textiles at A Level or at college or you may choose to use it to gain entry into a related industry.
