The Aims of the Department
Teaching geography at Banovallum incorporates the following aims
- To endeavour to make the subject matter fun and encourage as high a standard of learning and presentation as possible.
- To enable students of all abilities to develop a range of skills necessary to carry out geographical enquiry and to interpret geographical information.
- To encourage students to develop an interest in and understanding of the environment in which they live, both local and worldwide.
- To encourage an understanding of different communities and cultures in the world and help them to appreciate other people's values and attitudes.
- To develop an understanding of how activities and places are linked by the movement of people, materials and information.
- To encourage students to take an active part as citizens in society and to appreciate, protect and conserve their environment.
