Welcome to the ICT Department

The Department

 
All pupils have one lesson per week of this core subject which leads to GCSE qualifications in year 11.
 
 
 

The Teaching

 
All pupils are taught from year 7 to 9 have one lesson of ICT per week in mixed ability classes. They follow modules of work aimed to develop their Key Stage 3 skills in these areas:
  • Handling data
  • Control and Monitoring
  • Communication: Text and Graphics
  • Communication: Sound and Video
 
In Years 10 and 11 they build on their skills by following the OCR ICT GCSE course (1094 short course)
 
 
 

The Resources

 
The department has three dedicated comfortably furnished computer rooms which are equipped with between 20 and 25 machines enabling pupils to work one to a computer. In addition there are 70 laptop machines available for departmental use. All machines have a wide variety of software installed to enable the delivery of all subject areas.
 
The school also subscribes to Sam Learning where pupils have accounts which enable them to revise and test themselves with self marking tests.
 
Through our website and e-portal system pupils now have access to their work files and their school e-mail account.
